Your life is made up of work—meaningful daily activities. These occupations include many.
Role: Parent, Friend, Spouse, Player, Artist, Chef, Musician, etc. We usually do not think about our daily tasks until a problem arises.
Everyone has a job – From toddlers to seniors who are obsessed with playing and learning important skills. Their job is to work with family and friends and manage the house. Valuable work can be interrupted when diagnosed with an impairment. Occupational therapy
incorporates your valued occupations into the rehabilitation process.
Why do you need our Therapy Services?
Occupational therapy allows people across the lifespan to do the activities they want and need to do. Our therapist will evaluate your situation and, with your input (and perhaps your family, care provider, or friend), develop individualised goals that allow you to resume or pursue your valued occupations.
After you develop goals with our occupational therapist, we will work together on a specific intervention plan to help improve or maintain your ability to perform daily activities and reach your goals of getting back to your life.
Our therapy practitioners can also widen their focus to groups or communities, developing and implementing programs that promote healthy behaviours or address particular issues such as handwriting, sensory processing interventions, community transitions from hospitals, NDIS housing assessments (SIL/SDA/ILO), troubled youth, mental health, and emotional regulation.
With our therapy services in Brisbane, you can
- Achieve goals, such as helping your teenager with a developmental disability gain the skills to transition from high school to independent living as an adult.
- Stay as healthy and productive while managing a chronic medical condition.
- Maintain or re- establish independence.
- Participate in daily activities that are important to you, such as school, driving, visiting friends, going to church, etc. or other activities that involve community participation.
Capacity Building
Capacity building is a process that involves the development of the skills and abilities needed to perform important functions, problem solve, develop and manage tasks, set and achieve objectives, and manage long-term self-development goals across the individual’s life span. Capacity building is a holistic process because it is premised on the idea of empowering the individual across all areas of their life. It addresses the whole person, incorporating their broader support network, and working on unique goals that will allow the individual to participate in meaningful activities both at home and in their community.
We provide services to help you build your independence and skills in your daily living tasks. Our experienced therapists will work with you to develop the skills and educate you in strategies to manage your daily activities. Our therapy services are designed to train and assist you or a loved one to develop, improve and participate in the activities you want to do.
